    Hello Fred, if you see this then drop me a line. Have just had Tim Heales and Brian Hickey staying and we all had good memories of the Icenic's last two deep sea trips with SS&A.

    Have heard of a Capt. Earle , believe a well known figure in the shipping world in the educational book and lecturing of navigational books of knowledge , and think he was at some time employed at South Shields Marine And Technical College , or am I completely on the wrong tack. ?? JS

    yes John, he was engineer apprentice. Him and his brother, came from Rowlands Gill. very quiet guy whose only vice was smoking didn't drink or associate with women. I later heard that he had become the biggest shagnasty on the Aussie coast.

    Can’t be the same one Im referring to . This was a world known person well before my few years . In the same vein as Bill Moore the head of the navigational pre sea course at South Shields Westoe , before the College was built in 1952 I first heard the name and referred to his nautical books .
