Hi John we have similar initials which is why I did a double take on the thread. you went to sea a bit later than me and left a bit earlier none the less you managed possibly the best years when you left were you pushed or just gave up??

Hi John,
I wanted to go ashore before I was too old to start a new career. So at 35 years I went into managing a small heating and ventilating company and then moved onto BP Oil Energy division running and maintaining district heating schemes in London. What ships did you serve on? maybe our paths crossed on day. John
