Hello Peter,
Here is a photo of our old ship the Moreton Bay. I was on her as asst steward in early 1948. The glory hole up in the focs'l with its punker scoop cooling off eight of us in the Red Sea wasn't much good for sleeping.

sorry for the delay. my grandson is really good at computers I have enough knowledge just to look at the pictures, geeze you must be so much older than when I went on the wonderful tour and cruise (well it was if we had got rid of all the bloods), didn't we all have air conditioning, ha ha ha.

Richard is tat the Sydney harbor bridge or the one in Newcastle, there is a similarity as the Sydney one was built on the concept of the Newcastle one.

That is the real McCoy, John. It was a great thrill though when I got to see the 'prototype' in that great city, Newcastle upon Tyne. I did my fist trip from it's namesake just up he coast from Sydney at age 15 and we were in Curacao when they found out when I mentioned my birthday.

Good to hear from you, Peter. Yep, I turned 17 on that voyage. It was repatriation back to Sydney as I replaced a jumped crew member on the SS&A SS Raranga coal burner. After about 18 months on the Aussie ships I got another British ship an swapped my repatriation for a British discharge book.
