Hi Grahame see you were on the Stirling boats, believe the Johnshaven Sandhaven and Burnshaven were 3 of their ex fleet and run by the main office in Glasgow. Did you pack in, in 1992. They were 3 of the smaller supply vessels with an azimuth thruster each end. Cheers and welcome. During your dates for the North Sea I was master on the Seaforth Commander, Seaforth Victor, Seaforth Sovereign, Seaforth Viscount, plus a liquorice all sorts of other type of vessels. Worked out of Aberdeen, Peterhead, Great Yarmouth, Dundee, and other Scottish ports, so chances are have passed in some pub or another or stood in the queue at some public telephone kiosk on the quayside. My time in the North sea was similar to your own with an occasional brief escape. 78 to 91. Cheers JS

Yes, finished in 92. Still miss the life but prefer nights at home. I stood by the Stirling Elf newbuild and then brought her round from the Mersey to Yarmouth. Great little boats especially in tidal areas. The Elf eventually joined the Imp running out of Barrow during construction of the Morecambe Bay gas field. I think it was the Elf that became the Johnshaven. Really manoeuvrable with Z-pellet aft and Schneider fwd.
No doubt about being on same licensed premises or in one of those bloody queues for the phone. She never believed me when I did not ring cos the queue was too long..........................

    Grahame,
Don't know if you remember me I sailed with you as a Cadet in 1975 on the Welsh Herald (you were 2nd mate) and again in 1977 on the Welsh Voyager (we joined in Lisbon), the last time I saw you was in Avonmouth in 1981 or so when I was 2nd mate on the Voyager and you were a captain on Rig Supply.

Lovely to see a familiar name

    Gareth Morgan
