    Thank you Cappy I never got to meet him as he passed well before i was born - however his children are still alive and it would be nice to be able to add to the information i obtained from the national Archives!

    I went to school with a Tommy Caldwell in Bootle.A good goalie Tommy played for the school and I'm not sure if he played for Bootle Boys.

    Vikki,

    Please Google SS Tilapa and you will find there are lots of photos of the Tilapa they include quite a number of the engine room crew, you never know you may just strike lucky, hope so.

    John AE the Tilapa Vikki gives the number for is Cunard White Star.

    hugh may if he has a minute may give info about the medal ...pacific star...i have one at home of my uncle he was a POW japanese hands ...so maybe he was in the pacific or a POW cappy

    I sailed on the Tilapa in 56. she was a skin boat Joined her in Garston payed off same Garston. Think she went the Breakers about 59.
