Joined Panocean and was there about 15 years on a lot of the ship's a few times,as it progressed through different names and companies. The Northern Star was a chlorine tanker ran buy them also.
Also the same with the nor the sea vessels were all the one company.
Then moved to RVS on the research ships again for about 15 years spent most off that on Discovery

Great list there Ed.Looks like you did some 37 years at sea?.I was knackered after 20 so good for you !
As Catering Officer I bet you made some good money and perks over the years in your endeavours to feed your crews and keep 'em 'appy!

    Best Regards

    re: Northern Star
Was that the little yellow painted ship that used to run from Runcorn across to Belfast. Apparently it had stability problems so only sailed in force 4 or less. Often saw it when going up the MSC.

    Hi John
That's the one, strange vessel, had airlock weather doors. If the alarms went off you had to go to the bridge, because chlorine was heavier than air.luckily we never needed to.
As an aside to that, the ch/engineer was a big bloke very big,and had this diet of baked beans to help him lose weight.Didn't work for either his weight or his gas but maybe the airlock doors helped.
