I happened across this forum and this post while searching for details of some of my father's old ships. I'm afraid I don't remember your name but given the Panocean ships and the P&O ferries you must have known him - Ron Ellison.

Purely for personal interest do you know what happened to the Post Runner? I did a couple of short runs from the UK to Rotterdam on her when I was a wee lad... like about 5 years old!

Hi Ian,
As you can see, I have not been a regular on this site but happened across your post by accident when searching for info' on one of my other ships. Yes, I knew Ron Ellison very well - he was our boss in P&O Ferries back in the days when the fleet consisted of just the Lion, Tiger and Panther. I always thought that he was a kind and decent man doing a difficult job with some very unreliable ships. After the takeover by Townsend Thoresen, I took the redundancy money and lost touch with him but was very saddened to hear of his sudden death a few years later.
