thanks for you wee note gerry..i did what you wanted to do and jumped in 69 off a port boat,and was on the coast here for a year before i was apprehended and worked my passage home on the laurentic [shaw saville]...came back here to settle in 72,and a good move it was too...all the best for now..pete macartney

thanks for your prompt reply tony,and great to see you're alive and kicking...have wanted to get hold of you for years to see how you where faring..you must have made a lasting impression on me,as you where one of the best shipmates one could have,and i think the last time i saw you was in auckland,when you were on the port caroline [late 70's]...i've just recently pulled the pin and packed in the fire service after 37 and a half years,so now am a man of leisure,and pulling the o.a.p.pension..[bloody hell!,where did that time go]...i'm still in new plymouth,and have been with gaylene the last 24 years,and must admit,quite enjoying life,and like yourself.enjoying those few beverages !...i won't go on too much for now,but would love to keep in touch,and hear all about how life's treated you and yours...i was over in the u.k.last year,but didn't have a clue where you were,as i would have loved to have got in touch,so maybe next time....anyway tony,hope this finds you well,and hope to hear from you soon....all the best ..pete
