What was the longest time you ever spent on one ship and the shortest ? Noticed you were with Ropners, if you stayed with them you may have had only 15/16 trips/ships instead of 70 plus, 22 months on "Wandby" = 1 trip

Looks good :-) As I said on the welcome baord a few years ago, the Shell ones were as a catering superintendant so were all within a three year span. Sometimes only on a ship for a week at a time, but I did actually sail on all them and not counted ship visits . Longest trip away from home was the Welly Star. Joined her in Feb 73 and skinned out in Oz in December, arrested in February and sent home DBS on the ACT 1 so by the time I got home was 15 months away, not a lot compared to some of you old codgers right enough.

I kind of hit lucky with Ropners Ivan, we docked in Avonmouth on the 28th December after floating round West Africa for three or four months. The whole crew decided to leave and me being a wee pantry boy decided to go as well. Having said that the buggers wouldn't pay us off until January 2nd which meant I missed a certain football game that obviously celebrates its 40th birthday next week when we beat the Hearts 7-0 at their place in the New Year's day game.

    Hi Gordon.
the lad is home now he did two weeks on Bonny Island, He was fixing the Landing Lights with a back up system at the Island Airport. He stayed in a German Camp, not too happy with them, a bit arrogant. as usual .
Thanks for the help with the Visa.
    Cheers
    Brian.
