Frank, if you were on the Harvella in 1957 then we sailed together. I remember 3 deck apprentices and I would study with them. Do you remember their names. I would like to thank one of them for introducing me to my wife (60 years)

Had to answer this one Frank when saw Whitley Bay. My last habitat in that fair township. Was originally blessed with the title of Debtors Retreat, or in other words Whitley Lodge Estate halfway between the two dens of depravity the Briardene and the Kittiwake. Must know people you know if have lived there for any length of time. Was over there last July , and with all the alterations they are doing to the seafront nearly got lost. See the old comrades club is still going though. Welcome. Cheers Did you know Ollie Armstrong.? Cheers JWS

If you served your time with Shell, there were 2 brothers twins from West Monkseaton who went with them as Deck apprentices in 1954. The last time I heard they were living in New Zealand , but do have another contact living there who would know more about how they fared in life. If of course you knew them. I also knew another deck apprentice called Cyril Scott known as big Si, up at Nellists at same time. The twins were the Watson boys. Big Si however was a Newcastle man. Cheers JS
