was on the vancouver forest in 1974 which i joined as navigating cadet in new westminster, sailed up the bc coast loading liner board and timber. eventually sailed as acting 3rd mate under captain spencer and chief officer terry cairns on the nordic clipper. Came home and did a fishing skippers ticket but eventually was welding in the offshore industry. Was on the stornoway lifeboat as crew and navigator for over 33 years. Am still working at lews castle college where i was lecturing for a few years in the maritime dept. Was asked about you when i was employed by denholms if i knew you. hope you are enjoying your retirement,

#2 Don’t know if I asked you years ago as can’t remember. But see by your CV are from Stornaway . During different episodes of my own history at sea was aware of at least 4 different Murdo McLeods from the same Island 2 of them who were unrelated up close and personal one was master on the Finnish Wasa and the other was mate with me on one of Seaforth Maritme vessels as mate. 2 others I only spoke to over the VHF and think there were 3 in total and were all brothers with the same Christian name of Murdo and the story went their father was agreeable to calling them 1 2 and 3 . Thought you might have known if there were anymore Murdo McLeods it might be my good fortune to know about.? May of already asked as said if so sorry. Cheers JS
