Hi Bob just a quick word from your old mucker Terry Chell .Aways wondered how you got on in the States and whether you managed to keep in touch with any of the other lads off the FillyFlyer . As I am now well into retirement ,there is plenty of time to reminice over the cracking times we experienced around the world together over quite a few years . If you read this post lhope your in good nick and would like to hear from you in the future .Cheers Mate and Good Luck.

Robert & Terry , when were you on the Dumurra. I did my first deep sea trip on her in 1969. I was a pier head jump joined her in Liverpool in November 1969 and paid off New York in May 1970. Names I can remember Captain Alan? Ness, Davy Hepple C/Eng, Bob Harris was the 2nd Eng Geoff Berry was 3rd Eng, Colin Styles was 4th Eng , Jack Powell was C/Std. Gordon Strachan was the Electrician and big Jim Dooley was the Bosun. I was a J/Eng. Great ship and some good memories from her. I had my 21st Birthday on her. One thing I did learn was not to be a cocky little sh-t. Shall we say I was a bit naive at the tender age of 20. I was out on deck thinking I was something special in my whites for the first time. One of the sailors sitting on a hatch shouted up to me Paddy do you fancy a beer!!! Imagine my indignation at being called Paddy . In no uncertain terms I advised the sailor he was to address me as Mr McColl or Sir. He leapt up the stairs hit me that hard I not only had a busted nose but had splinters on my backside from sliding up the deck. Lesson in life learnt. Word obviously got back to the C/Eng. I cleaned myself up and later on in the bar the C/Eng asked me if there was anything I needed to tell him, no nothing Chief. Big Jim the Bosun looked at me tipped me a wink and bought me a pint. That was not any of you two was it Big lad from Hull we got quite matey after that and went up the road a few times down the west coast he kept me street wise lol.
