Hotel manager
On our recent cruise to NZ I spoke at length with the Hotel General Manger, a gentleman by the name of Tony Pollendine. Have any of you sailed with him?
After leaving sea school he was offered a berth with the Queens but decided he did not like UCL so chose Cunard instead. This was early 1970 and from there he served on the Canberra and the Oriana along with a number of other P&O ships.
He joined Princess as a bartender in 1984 and is now general hotel manager a position crossed between Cheif Steward ans Purser. But as he indicated the Cheif steward part has not altered much, he still has to keep a tight rein on stores.
Good old fashioned sort of guy who was more than willing to talk of how the industry has changed over the years.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
