Re: Torpedo Badge
Hi Marion, thanks for taking the trouble to search Ancestry and FMP.
No, I do not hold a current subscription to Ancestry but I am in touch Theresa (my cousin once removed) who has posted most of the photos and documents for William Walter Frederick Joy on there. In fact, I have supplied her with quite a few items as I hold the medals and torpedo badge and associated letters.
I did find the Wrecksite info on line but I haven't ordered the full document as it appears to indicate just 6 people names; those of the six that died. I clearly need the full crew list to prove William WF Joy was on the SS Copenhagen when it was sunk & hence received the torpedo badge. I have researched the Board of Trade papers at The National Archives but there is nothing giving the names of crew receiving the torpedo badge.

Are they accessible online? Is there a 1917 crew list?
I'm hollering - how do you get these records?

Hello Richard J
If you follow this Link it will tell you how to apply for the Crew List,as said it holds one for 1916 ,and is very possible that your man was on her at that time as well,so may be well worth the enquiry.
There is the Links to where you should write to and the costs once you have contacted the University. A Mrs Tania McDonald is your best contact there so address the Email header to her
You will of course first receive a Quote free from her then its up to you >
Cheers hope this helps, ant questions just again Holler! LOL
