Re: clan line engineer
I served in the Clan Line on the Menzies, Finlay and Macillwraith. I am Australian engineer known as 'wee Aussie'. I returned home to Australia by taking a tug called 'Waitangie' from Lowestoft to N.Z. where I joined the Northern Steamship company and sailed on the 'Marenui'. I payed off to get married just before it sank with the loss of nine lives in 1968.
I subsequently spent most of my career with Howard Smith's ships as an engineer and Superintendent. At the demise of HSI I joined P&O Polar to be C/E on Australia's icebreaker The Aurora Australis.
Best regards to all who sailed with me in the past. John van Dam

Re: clan line engineer
Could be this Mc Callum ??
You would need to apply for his Seamans Pouch.
