G'day Peter and welcome aboard. Tyne and wear, know it well as i spent much of my youth up there on school holidays. My GGGf GGf and Gf worked in the ship yards many years ago, but like so many yards now all gone. Not been there since 1964 when I joined the British Hawthorn on maiden voyage.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

Hi Peter, one of the best ships I sailed on was "British Patrol" a product carrier between the Isle of Grain and Scandinavia Circa 1965, Great crew and (hocifers for once), you could even speak to the "Old Man" AND he would listen, happiest ship I have sailed on. It was a really OLD ship but the food was great and we got ashore a lot which was unusual for a tanker. Good memories. Stay Lucky Graham

    Hi Peter,
Welcome aboard as they say. I can't fulfil the ex shipmates bit but I do hail from Sunderland. Left there around 1970 shortly after leaving the MN and starting work at the ROF in Birtley. I now live near Whitley Bay (but still support Sunderland). Enjoy the website, I find it good fun, good reading, with some serious bits now again. A good crew, with some nutters (meant in the nicest possible way) that keeps the interest high!!

    Default British Might

    Hi Peter
I too served on the British Might, I think it was 57-58, I began to think I was the only ex crew member left alive as I have never seen another person male any reference to the B M. As you can see she is my avatar.
