British Swift
I would like to learn details of a voyage [ ie ports of call primarily] made by BP tanker British Swift. It began early October time, 1969 and probably began at Isle of Grain [or somewhere nearby]. Hope someone can help. MJO

British Swift
Of course you may know the reason for my search Tony though it may be a bit long winded.
The request follows recent conversation with a friend with whom I meet up most weeks for a chat etc. Sometimes he sets me a nautical poser to investigate on my computer.
When I left home to join my first ship I was headed for Shell tanker [Hinnites], via Tilbury pool, but actually joined the British Duchess [May 23rd to Dec. 5th 1965].
Many years later I learned from the N.L. Middlemiss book, 'The Anglo Saxon/Shell Tankers' details of the Hinnites voyage [May 27th to Nov. 24th 1965]. This proved interesting ie comparing the two voyages.
At my recent sea school reunion I bought a second hand copy of the above mentioned book for the above mentioned friend. When I gave it to him I drew his attention to the Hinnites piece and explained my link to it.
In response he reminded me that when, in October 1969, he [his first trip] and I were sent to Dock Street pool for a ship it was the British Swift but we actually joined Shell tanker Haminella [Oct. 18th 1969 to Apr. 28th 1970].
He therefore, asked if I could find details of British Swift's voyage though I would be very interested in the information too.
So, in short, reason for my search is to compare voyage details of ship left home to join with that actually joined.
