Re: patagonia star
I was on the final voyage of the Patagonia Star, leaving Liverpool on Oct 1960. We had a broken Crankcase Chain in New Zealand (Lytleton), Took ages to find where the replacement was hidden (underneath the workshop floor) and made it back to Liverpool 11th April 1961. She was move to Glasgow and was sold to a Greek company and renamed the "MV Eirine " I did the run with her from Glasgow to Sheerness in May 1961 where was to have all refrigeration (ammonia) gear removed. The Greek owner offered me a senior position with them but I declined. Walter McElveen 3rd engineer at that time
