Hurricane Mathew etc.
This has been a tragic week for me.* A few hours before Hurricane Mathew arrived in South Carolina my youngest of three sons telephoned me to tell me that his brother and my middle son had*died in his sleep. He was 52 years of age.* It was a massive heart attack.* Both of my sons live in Missouri and were business partners in a real estate appraisal company.
Three hours later we were visited by "Mathew."* We had*a foot of rain in roughly three hours, then it stopped (thank goodness) and the wind followed.* We lost*roof shingles and are facing* having *a new*roofing laid.* A company is arriving tomorrow to lay protective tarpaulin, then it's "take a number," as*in the development, in which we live, of*350 houses I guess 100 homes*are needing roofing work.
We lost*electricity, telephone, and water for five days.* Sandwiches by candlelight sans showers gets a bit old after a couple of days.**Curfews were in effect, many bridges were compromised,*roads tore up, and with*dams*collapsed, along with airport closures made it impossible for us to attend my sons funeral.
As you can guess it's hard to concentrate on draining the swamp when your up to your ass in alligators.* However, I have good insurance coverage and so far the insurance company has been extremely helpful.* When I get a bit of free time I will log-on to see what's going on.
Till later, Rodney.** ( I do not understand these asterisks appearing, please excuse I have no time to remove).

Re: Hurricane Mathew etc.
Rodney, so sorry to hear about the demise of your son.
All of the other stuff can be replaced.
My thoughts are with you.
We are now receiving the tail end of the hurricane, but nothing like you suffered in Carolina..
Take care mate.
Den.

Re: Hurricane Mathew etc.
Apologies. Got myself mixed up.
Ours is a Pacific storm. High wind and 200 mm of rain expected.
Nothing like poor Rodney.
