Information Regarding William Fraser

Hello I am new to the forum but hoping you can help!
I am looking for information regarding William Fraser I think he joined the Merchant Navy after being discharged from the Royal Signal's after the war in 1947. I have his Identity card and the earliest stamp is 1950 so could have been then though. I know I can get access to his records but was wondering if anyone knew him, or can tell me about what he did. It says he held AB002722 certificate his grade was EDH and his Rank or Rating it says AB but EDH is next to it with a line through. I think that he spent at least 15 years if not more in the Merchant Navy as I have some US Navy driving certificates dated upto 1964. Also I have a card for President Kennedy's visit to Birch Grove House for June 29 and 30 1963 not sure what that was about. I am his grandaughter and only knew him for two years before he died. He left my Grandmother around the mid 1940's and came back to find her around 1985. He wasn't very forthcoming about his life but not having a very big family I would like to know what happened to him.
