Coaster MV Ardglen
I sailed as EDH on the MV.Ardglen from 3/7/66 to 29/7/66 around the British coast even rescuing a yacht in the Irish Sea that was sinking. .When we were going up to Goole the police detained me as an overstayer in UK and escorted me all the way back to Southampton and made me sign on a foreign going vessel or jail .But I heard that soon after that the Ardglen sank with all hands can someone fill in the gaps for me ? .Michael Rossouw [KIWI]

Capt AL Rigden
I wonder if anyone can help me please with some research into my grandfather, Capt Arthur Leonard Rigden? I am pretty sure that he served on the Ardglen and Ardgarvel for the MacCallum company.
During the war, he served on both Atlantic and Arctic convoys. He survived his ship being sunk by U-Boat action, but I don't know anything about his ship or the convoy. It must have been in the earlier part of the war because he was subject to the shameful practice of having his pay stopped once the ship went down, leaving my grandmother in Gateshead with two children, a missing husband and no money.
I would be very grateful if anyone has any memories of my grandfather to share - particularly as my son is soon to start a course in Marine Engineering and follow in his footsteps.
