Ww2 Merchant ships

With thanks to Gary Tankard, I now have my father’s Merchant ships he sailed. I have attached it here, could any one help with my further discovery.

The 'Samanco' if I remember rightly was built in 1943 at Harland and Wolff in Belfast and had Burmeister & Wain diesel engines and had a service speed of 15 knots, although she could reach 17 when pushed but fuel consumption rocketed for that extra 2 knots. She was too fast for convoy work and like other 15 knotters made the Atlantic Dash. She was owned by Pacific Steam Navigation Company of Liverpool, and her normal runs would have been to the West Coast of South America, but in wartime she could have been sent anywhere by the MOWT (Ministry of War Transport)

I served on her in 1954, she still had the strengthening in place for the gun placements on the poop and foc'le.

Sorry not my area of expertise, but there are many on here can point you in the right direction and no doubt will contact you at some time but remember they are all volunteers and do not work to a time table or look in every day, but once they do they will be eager to help.

All the Links list the names of all Ships with that Particular name, so just pick the one in question, which is easy by the dates

If he had any Records other that that shown, should be a CRS10 which would show all his Seatime Service etc.
These Links would be the place to look into, as there is an overlap of First names not sure which one would be the appropriate. Better to first ask the Archives if they can possibly Pinpoint which Series.

Besides those Files i sent you, which are for the 1940 Years, you can also apply to the Guildhall Library for the Voyage Record Cards of most any Ship.
There is of course a charge these days , but if you are interested its worth the cash.

Our main sources for shipping movements are Lloyd's List, a newspaper in which movements of ocean-going vessels were reported and the Lloyd’s Voyage Record Cards. Casualties and other incidents were also reported.
Shipping movements were recorded in Lloyd’s List from 1741- 2003. Movements were indexed by vessel name from 1838 – 1975 and Guildhall Library holds these on microfilm and on the Voyage Cards (c1927-1975).
Advance ordering is required for Voyage Record Cards with a minimum of five days’ notice. Please write or e-mail your request in vessel name order with the dates required.
If you are looking for convoy movements; we offer exclusive access to the Convoys Database in the library. This resource is searchable by vessel name, convoy number, port and date for World War Two and by convoy number and vessel name for World War One.
