She may have said it or may have been in one of her songs. I think it was first mentioned in the movie the queit man in 1952 by Barry Fitzgerald
Reba McEtire was not born until 1955.

John the movie was called The Quiet Man and yes it did star John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara filmed in Ireland in 1952.
