Looking for info

My great uncle was a merchant seaman in the interwar period but is recorded as having died in Marseille. I am looking for any information about him and the ships he served in.His name was Kenneth George Nathaniel Morgan

He is recorded as dieing in October 1937 and the vessel he was serving in was S S Macalren.

The remaining crew lists (about 70% of the total) are now in the care of the Maritime History Archive - Nothing listed there either. Okay back to records on Ancestry World Wide as FMP only had his CR2 which you already have above.

Thank you for your replies. His parents were James and Annie and a birth in 1911 is correct. I have found a record but it is behind a paywall a French record of his death from Marseille so I am wondering where he actually died. The Maclaren was working between Marseille and South Wales but this was during the Spanish Civil War when many ships were attacked by the warring parties. His other ship was the Galvan 142429 when it was operating for an Argentinian Railway company. Kenneth took his younger brother, my grandfather ,on two voyages on that run . Galvan had been built as the War Lemur and grand dad used to say the ship was very unseaworthy. I believe that it was eventually sunk by the US Navy in the Pacific.

Hi Christopher, If you share the site name where you found the document some here may have a subscription to it which could help you! Kenneth definitely died in the 'clinique' just can't read which one in Marseille, most probably the nearest one to the Port. If he had died on the ship itself it would have stated 'onboard'.

The record I saw was for French burials on the MyHeritage site. My subscription has lapsed there and I cannot see the detail.Looking at the ledger another of the crew seems to have succumbed to Malaria in the same hospital at around the same date. Can anybody read what looks like an address in Newport in the last column of my great uncle’s entry?
