Help needed - Voyage Record Card
Apologies, I am new to the group but already on the cadge?
I served on the QE2 1981-1984, and we sailed to the Falklands in May 1982. I am in the process of applying for the merchant navy medal but have been asked to supply the ships location record for that time period but am struggling to find that record. Would anybody be able to offer any pointers - many thanks in advance.
Unfortunately, my discharge book was not updated at the time, so I need to prove I was there at the time as well. I have some old pay slips from way back when.
Any help gratefully appreciated.

Re: Help needed - Voyage Record Card
Bob you could look at 'Lloydes lists' for the period they list the ports visited of all merchant ships on a weekly basis. You have to visit the National Library of Scotland to see these but they are also available somewhere in England sorry not sure where.
Just thinking though as there was basically a war on at the time maybe the ships that went to the Falklands during that period were not mentioned in lloydes List?
This is the email address National Library of Scotland [enquiries@natlibscot.libanswers.com]
Just remembered there was a web site for the QE2 where you may get this info https://www.qe2abstractlog.com/itinerary
I use it a few months ago and could get through to it but I am getting a error message now.

Re: Help needed - Voyage Record Card
Just off hand , i know that the Voyage Record Cards for many older Ships are available at the Guildhall Library London, which i have used myself and pointed many others there as well, but do not know if they would hold any Cards as such for later Years ?? Not sure on this though!
I got all my VRC from there , and they are a great source of reminding of the places we went to !
Cheers

Just came across this, so seems that they do still keep the Cards of Later Ships as well. Great!

Re: Help needed - Voyage Record Card
Hi cappy
Just come off the site mate and i can tell you it has changed a lot from when i first used it many Years back!
One has to Join up first, which is Free but then no more Donations , as its all a Paid Subscription thing, and quite costly as well, so i have not gone into it !
Pity that things cahnge so much, as said in earlier Years it was a simple process, and i just paid for my Cards which wasnt too much at that time.
No more easy peasy access!
Damn!!!
The price of Development!
Cheers

Hello
I hope that you may be able to assist me, I am a bit confused as to how one goes about applying for any Voyage Record Crads for Ships around the 1950 mark.
I have been through all the pages on site and cannot for the life of me find where to apply online?
Years ago it was easy and I had no trouble accessing the Section.
Now as said I cannot find where to go!
Could you perhaps please Guide me to how now go about this task.
Thank You
Vernon
