I didn't know about that one.I only usually research final fates of vessels-anything else like incidents along the way are a bonus !
Here are my pics of the Australis's final voyage,as American Star at 54 years old ,when she was undergoing the long tow from Piraeus ,Greece to Phuket,Thailand and the breakers yard and broke tow off Tenerife in 28-20N, 14-10W on 18th Jan.1994 becoming completely wrecked.
The second one ,with caption, was me being a tad irreverent perhaps,when I was contributing to the Humorous/Cartoons thread.Yes.........I know.

If you google free on passenger ship australis, there are accounts by passengers who were onboard at the time of the free. (Should be Fire on Passenger Ship Australia)

hi doc - yep found the links - must say they are brilliant - only thing is it sent me off on a tangent - what with all the links etc etc - lost my true " course " setting and had to adjust the heading !
