Alexander Scott Sunderland
Hi, having had a great response to my Ogilvie/John Will query, I thought I'd try asking for help with another of my seafaring ancestors. This time the name is not so unusual, there seemed to be a fair number of Alexander Scotts in the Navy in the 19th Century. The only details I know for sure are mainly from the 1871 Census in Sunderland i.e. that Alexander Scott, a seaman, was born c 1822 in Scotland, married 1851 to Mary Anne Burns, had several children, but by 1881 census, his wife is recorded as a widow. Any help finding out more about him, his movements, precise place of origin, DOB, and manner and date of demise, would be much appreciated.
I have found a record which seems to match - Alexander Scott aged 36 in 1856 born Scotland, but it doesn't add much to what I know already.

Re: Alexander Scott Sunderland
Thank you for the list. And, oh yes, sorry should have been a comma in there. Surname is Scott, he lived in Sunderland, presumably in range 1851-1881 (marriage in 1851 - wife listed as a widow in 1881). There is no record of death in Sunderland for him pre-1881, so he might have died at sea or abroad.
