Searching for father and Grandfather
Hi I am new to this site, and would like to know how to start searching for my father and grandfather both of whom were in the merchant navy .My father in the 1950,s and my grandfather in 1920,s

As for searching for your Relatives, there are those that may be able to assist you, but to start we will need some basic info.
Full Names ,Dates of Birth where possible (Even the Year will help) Places of Birth
And any other info you may have .

My grandfather : NAME- Ernest George Francis born 28 feb 1901 in london, served between 1918- 1921 and then later on not sure the dates, one of the ships he was on was "Port Napier" which was renamed "Hawks bay" I have a photograph of him in a shirt that say C and D lines as well
My father: Anthony Francis born on 25 feb 1932 in romford, served in the 1950s as a radio officer dont know any of the ships names, he taught at durban insitute of technology until his death in 2011

Your Fathers Seamans Pouch will be found here will have basic info ,you will also need his CRS10 for full Service Records. Will look that up soon and post. Will also look ans see what i can find for your Grandfather
