Re: Airport drinking
if you fly with Qatar you need to have a lot of alcohol to see you through your flight, TERRIBLE.

Re: Airport drinking
Can’t complain too much about them Brian. They were no worse than qantas or any other airlines. A bit cheaper as well. The beer would have been the same exorbinate price as elsewhere. The water was. JS

Re: Airport drinking
Hi John
Qatar is the first airline I have been on that runs out of food, half way up the aisle, Sorry that's it, no more food, half the plane had some the other half had none. 24 hours with nothing to eat.
The seats squashed up together, couldn't get my knees in jammed against the seats in front, cramped. for nigh on 24 hours, teribble, had more space on an old Dakota from Hong Kong.
I had pre -booked seats at the front row so know idiot drops the seat right on top of us, They had a moo slim family in our seats and one of their stupid kids leaned over and threw my glass of whisky on the deck . no one cared.
Ever since then we fly Business Class, no more Cattle Class, well worth the extra. Better service, drinks all the time and better food .and a Flat Bed to sleep on.

Re: Airport drinking
A women and her child is being held in adubai prison after having a free glass of wine with her meal on a Emerites flight to Dubai and whilst in jail has been forced to clean toilets etc.
Personally I would never fly with, or go to for any reason, an airline or country that has an Arabic connection.

I think it is wrong when forgien companies or countries expect visitors to follow their rules and laws but when they visit other countries or use companies outside of their remit they STILL expect their rules andlaws to be followed as if they were at 'home'.

Re: Airport drinking
#13.. you wouldn’t be allowed on any aircraft whatever nationality with liquid in a bottle. This applies to Qatar as well. They are not an alcohol free airline as of 3 weeks ago. The only complaint would be the same as Brian is space. however to go business class would have been an increase in 10000 dollars.for the two of us, and had to think of the beer money in the uk. Cheers JWS.

Re: Airport drinking
Those arabs have double standards, that lady in Dubai will be held for about 12 months after on glass of wine on an Dubai owned plane Emirates.
When I was in Dubai several times in the 70s and 80s,in the top Hotel, The Flamingo Room, a night club on the top floor was full of arab sheiks, they fly over the border in helicopters and then they drink whisky from the bottle, light cigars from the candles with 1000 diram notes with a white girl sat on their knee.
I will never ever fly on any arab plane again or go to any arab, or moo slem country again.
On the world cruise we are going on in January I am getting off in Singapore as the ship then goes into the Gulf States and then through Suez and home. I do not want ever to pay for a trip through those places. Bad enough being paid to go there.

Re: Airport drinking
Hi John
We are flying Business Class to Miami in January, with British Airways, for the Two of us it cost £720. OR £360 EACH. that was by using my Airmiles, that I saved up by flying B.A.mostly, and also every time I use my B.A. credit card I also accumulate Airmiles on everything I buy, Groceries, Petrol etc. I still have 57,000 Airmiles in my B.A. Account.
When we get off in Singapore in April, I will have enough to get a cheap Business Class ticket to Manchester with the Airmiles..
In the B.,A. Group for Airmiles is around Ten Companies, including Qatar, American , Alaska, Iberia, Quantas and so on, Airmiles soon mount up and cuts the cost of flying or Up Grades to better class seats.

Re: Airport drinking
The duplicity of citizens from Arabic nations never ceases to amaze me when you see them in western countries. Doing 2nd mates in shields the college was full of Persian students who never turned up for lectures, instead they could be found nightly drinking and dancing in the Chelsea Cat, or as it was better known as the Persian Pussy. There were a number of Shields girls who married them thinking that when they got to Arabia they would be leading a life of rich luxury, how wrong were they. My pal almost got expelled from college when one of them allowed a heavy fire door to slam shut on my pals hand instead of just holding it for a couple of seconds until my pal and I could get hold of it and stop it from closing, so we got hold of him a gave him a going over. He reported us to the head of the college but did not know our names or could identify us, so we just pleaded ignorance. Later on visiting Playboy clubs in Manchester and London, they were full of them drinking spirits and flashing huge amounts of cash around and I have seen them losing thousands in the casinos there.
