Carnarvon Lewis Whittaker, SS Alnwick Castle (London)
I am hoping that someone will be able to help with the above.
I can tell you that he was a Boatswain and was killed 19/03/1917 (aged 56) when ship torpedoed and sunk by U-81, 310 miles south west off the Bishop Rock, after leaving from Plymouth for South Africa on 17/03/1917
Born: Hermitage, West Sussex
Commemorated: Tower Hill Memorial, London
Son of The Late Richard and The Late Matilda Whittaker of 47 Portland Street, Fareham, Hampshire
Husband of Kate Whittaker of Southampton Hill, Titchfield, Fareham, Hampshire
What I would like to know is when, where and on what date he enlisted, along with his service number.

Have not looked at this one as yet,nut am of tyhe feeling that similar results will apper as with the other,and all i can say is i think your best bet is to do some research at or through the Southampton Archives!
But will look and see

So looking at another Ship he was on possibly get the Crew list from that one and as i have said should hold Records of date of Engagement and his Number?
