Thank you! I will add Chris to my list. Loneliness is terrible, and sadly I believe it's becoming more prevalent these days. Providing links and visits to help tackle it is a wonderful thing. Thanks again. V.

Hi Brenda
Great that you have been to Loch Ewe - and submitted material to the museum - they have a fantastic collection now (one of my favourites is the storekeeper's log book that detailed orders for food from every ship under its name - something that if she'd thought about it, probably shouldn't have been done as should have been secret, but has ended up being a fascinating record of life on a convoy!). Did you know they have moved to the other side of the loch now - to Aultbea, where many of the Wrens were stationed during WW2? I have found your piece on the RACMP website. It is very moving - hard to imagine what he must have gone through, and so brave to keep smiling - the photo you have put up there perfectly illustrates that. (And yes - I definitely mention rescue ships!)
all the best
Vanessa.
I agree about the TV - at least it's meant I've managed to read a lot of other people's books recently!

Did I mention Rescue Ships ??!! I mention them a lot......! Hope that you mention them, too.

Re: Info on charities needed please
Thank you for bringing up this one. Liverpool has a long history with the Merchant Navy - and my book includes the old Sailor's Home that was there - it was destroyed in the Seventies, I believe, but was an amazing building that provided lodging for up to 200 sailors while waiting for their next vessel. It was meant to provide an alternative to the temptations of the less salubrious places around the docks! Its 'Pearly Gates' survive - beautiful ironwork gates depicting Neptune and mermaids among other seafaring 'peoples' - they can still be seen near the original site in Liverpool.
all the best
Vanessa.
