STCW Basic Training Certification
A close friend of mine wants to work on cruise ships and has been told that she must have STCW Basic Training Certification before thay will even consider her as a possible candidate.
This course is well after my time.
Can anyone let me know what the course is and where it can be done etc etc.
Many thanks for any help.

Chris this is a 5 day course it covers sea survival , fire fighting , basic first aid , safety awareness and security awareness. If she needs a residential course it will cost nearly £1000.

Re: STCW Basic Training Certification
My wife did hers at Red Ensign on the Isle of Wight. Several of my old crew went there too.
Based on their opinions I would recommend them. I think it cost around £700 6 years ago,
