    Default 4 hugh

hi hugh , going to give you that because i asked for two meanings for the green pennent and you have given me them.well done, a more merchant navy aspect, as to the use of the green pennent is, if you where on lookout on the bridge entering a port or harbour, and you spotted that pennent it depicts a sailing boat flown at the top of the mast, or even a lifeboat adrift at sea, regards hugh terry

It looks like a paying off pennant,( finishing its last voyage ) possibly from a large passenger liner of many years service, the RN have a similar tradition on decommissioning, I would say it is one of the Queens, possibly the QE2

    Hi Terry.
Bill jumped me, I think it is as he says a paying off pennant, possibly a liner, maybe the longer the pennant the bigger the payoff. as I can't ever remember the BTC flying a paying off pennant.
    Cheers Des

well done mate, that was pictured on the river mersey her final paying off pennent QE2.cunards longest serving flagship, the pennent was donated to the maritime museum albert dock here in liverpool. a foot added after every completed voyage, not sure how long it is but having seen it at the museum first hand, its immposible to have it permanently fully rolled out, its pretty big regards all terry
