#49 It wasn't a good port Charlie. It is true about mixing with beer though and we used to call a torpedo, maybe it was a habit picked up on one particular ship I was on when young. Certainly don't do now. Prefer the odd whisky these days when I can afford, health wise. Cheers JS

Guinness with port used to be my downfall some time ago- the barman referred to it as a 'Blackpool Rock' The port (large) was poured over the top of the black stuff. Drinking that today would probably see me in A&E.

Then of course for the more refined such as Den and Marian champagne and orange juice. Bucks fizz but just make sure you have your teeth in when ordering.

Buck's Fizz? When my gouty big toe begins to throb I'm reduced to imbibing 'mocktails'- orange juice and shampagne.

Tequila chasers after beer led to myself and sparks having to spend a most uncomfortable night and half a day in a Mexican jail in Tampico after a slight amount of over indulgence the previous night and an argument over the cost of the last round. No gout though.

#53-54Some years back, I used to make my own Draught beer. [Fog Locker in Gallery]
Also used to press my apples-the ones from the trees john, and make into cider.
Irish stout mixed with the cider, I named 'poor mans Black Velvet'.
I recall one evening with an Irish relative, trying to discover the correct mix.
Don't know if we ever did.Stuff had a kick like a Donegal donkey.
