#29, Eh Terry lad, what makes you and your mates think you are the only ones who have seen both sides of the spectrum ( whatever the hell that means) and others only have tunnel vision, are others from a working class not allowed to have differing views from your own without being castigated as toffs, not all people who voted Tory are toffs or 'so called' middle class. I own my own house, I didn't buy it from the Council, nor did I inherit it, I worked hard for it, nor did I have a silver spoon in my mouth, in fact the Germans ensured that on least three occasions we had neither spoons or furniture or anywhere to live, but my family worked hard to provide for us to enable us to survive and I think the operative words for the so called ills of today are 'worked hard' which seems to be missing from the dictionary and is foreign to many.

Going out now, to enjoy my ill gotten gains of 60 working years, I will read the exocets when I return, as no doubt many will be winging my way

Not only is that a rather sweeping statement it's also extremely insulting. It implies that any Tory voter on here is without compassion. Personally I think major panic is setting in from the workshy who survive on benefits. Suddenly looming is the thought they may be forced to work for their living. Unfortunately those on disability will have to be re assessed to weed the scroungers out.

As an aside Terry I was brought up by my "working class" parents a term I loath, but the only one you seem capable of understanding. Decent hardworking parents brought me up with a view to work hard and strive always to improve my lot and to encourage my own the same. Always to save if possible and never except a hand out from anyone bar your family. Think perhaps that is were you and I differ and it obviously annoys you more than me. This continual bleating about the Tory party is wearisome they are in power voted in Terry, by the people

Just read something about Housing Benefit. LHA. 2014/2015
In Liverpool it is a weekly allowance of £121.15p per week. 3 Bedroom House, [ it varies from town to town. Some are more some a little less.]
Bedroom Tax is 14 % so they would now get £104.19p per week.

I do not know how you get LHA or why. I would think it is on top of all other Benefits.
But the weekly allowance is what I get in State Pension and I have to pay Income tax of 20 % on that.
Benefits are Tax Free. my Pension isn't.
Families can now get up to £23,000 a year in Benefits. That is equivalent to around £30,000 a year before Tax.
So it is a nice little earner.
Every man is in charge of his own destiny.
My Dad never got a penny when he was out of work in the 30s when I was a lad. now we have bred a generation who have made Benefits a life style.
I stopped smoking and drinking because I realised I was making Pub Landlords rich and my self poorer. I am much better off for doing so.
.Just calculate how much money is spent in a year by some people on fags and ale.
One pack of 20 cigs a day equals at £8.50 a pack ....£3,068 a year
Just two pints of ale a night at £2.50p a pint will cost £1,320 a year. a lot of fellas drink more that two,
If the wife has similar then it would cost around £9.000 a year.
In the last ten years they could have saved around £90,000 to £100,000
    A lot of money.
The ones who rent houses around here have a car and some have Two cars. Most are new ones and 4x4s. mine is now Ten Years old on August 1, Almost everyone has a mobile phone, I don't. they are all fit and able to work but don't. they are on invalidity for a bad back etc. they live good lives. `Hey you` next door thinks he is already in paradise.
and All Tax free he is 40 years old and has never worked. he laughs at me when I was humping granite 3x2 foot flags laying a path.
    `You get bad back like me` .
In my avenue of 16 houses 12 are rental, all got new Gas Boilers last year, FREE if they are on Benefits, , mine is 15 years old, I applied for one, I didn't get it because I am not on Benefit, only a pension. State and MN.
They are all better off than me, I have been paying tax for 65 years and NI for 50 years. so because of that I get Nothing.
and I am supposed to feel sorry for people on Benefits????????

Marian, You surprise me, Do you think I hold any different family values than you ????????? I just want to see the young kids I meet every day of my life with parents that hold the same family values given the same chance that we did Terry.
