Re: Ideas!
Right let's get serious, I would say Divers support vessel, looks like large compressors on port and starboard side, deck awning over for'd deck covering a working platform for divers and support team, as gets very hot in HK in summer and divers would boil in their suits. Would rule out bunkering barge or water barge but then again just may be those. Perhaps Braid (or his Malay friends) could translate the Chinese notice aboard

Re: Ideas!
Yes indeed
All I can think of is that if one reads the comments on the Picture it states in one comment about the Ferry!
The Star Ferry from Kowloon
This may give us a clue!
So will now search futher !
Thank you to all who have had a go at this so far
Appreciated!
Cheers

Re: Ideas!
I'm wondering if it may have a false bow, something which can be added or removed for a particular task, otherwise it looks like it could be a conventional tug but the bridge is too far aft for that.

Re: Ideas!
WEll we do know that it is Hong Kong as many of us recognise it and the twin peaks, still waiting for Braid to get his Chinese Malay friends to decipher the notice for us and that may give us a clue, so many individual barges and crafts floating around that harbour it is almost impossible to identify their uses. Must say that it is the quietest I've seen HK harbour I know that when coming into anchor you could almost walk from Hong Kong to Kowloon on floating moving craft, or it possibly just seemed that way when trying to find a spot to anchor and also avoid the underwater cable spots with their 'forbidden to anchor' notations on the chart. I'm still in favour of some kind of support vessel because of all the machinery on deck, which opens up another possibility of a Shipyard's floating repair facility for carrying out repairs to vessels at anchor

Re: Ideas!
I am again trying to get the name of this Craft!
We know its a Dangerous Goods Vessel (Flying the Red Flag)
However other than that as of now there is no other info!
I had sent a few Emails out to various places, and got reply from one but not much good either!
I then went to a Chinese translation site and posted the Picture shown here,i have honestly since then lost the Login I had and have tried to get back on with no luck! I cannot now recall what the one Guy posted as regards to the translation of the Sign showing on the Top of the Vessel!
I will have another bash at seeing if there may be another site somewhere!
If anyone who is new here may have any suggestions other than what is already given in previous posts we will be most grateful for any new info!
Please post all replies here! Russ will also the ne able to see it!
Thank you ALL for any help on this elusive Pic!
Cheers
