    Default Maersk line.

I have seen many old Photos recently of Maersk Line Ships, not really looking for them, just browsing the Net, old Oil Tankers, Freighters, not sure if Tramps or not, some real old fashioned Ships, it was a big Company, much like many UK Companies, same Ships, same Cargos. just a different Flag. How did Maersk manage the transition into Containerisation ? and end up with the biggest fleet of Ships, have many Rig supply Ships also. all our Companies folded up. seems a bit of a mystery ?. Don't know if this is applicable to Maersk Line but the Danish government have a very different attitude towards the shipping business to our useless lot.
As an example my last employer brought a number of chemical tankers from Danish owners (excellent ships) that had been built in Danish shipyards using as a minimum 75% Danish sourced materials and equipment. They were built under a scheme whereby Danish investors could group together and invest in these ships and receive a big tax rebate on their investment. The investors were the likes of doctors, dentists, lawyers etc and was very successful. A previous outfit I worked for also had two ships on bare boat charter owned under the same methods, on one of them the main investor was the king of porn film makers in Denmark (none of his product on Board). AS Denmark is outside of the EU they are not bound by the stupid legislation and protectionism of Brussels.
Maersk also own an airline along with all their other interests.
Basically it is all down to good sound management staying true to their country of origin and a government that actually assist business rather than toploading them with legislation.

our goverment seems to go out of its way to put hurdles in the way of new enterprises, no real incentives given, same with our uk jobs in times of recession, open to anyone from any backward countries, was only unemployed once in my life in 1991, 8 months in total, job center every day, complete waste of time, found my own job. Were many jobs i could have applied for, but it said you had to be unemployed 6 months first, told them i did not want to be unemployed 6 months, but could not win, too many rules befor you even get work, same situation when starting a new business, Brussels has broken us, how we ever signed up for some of the agreements i will never know, but its too late now, we are hogtied.
