    Jim, I finished November 56, got my first ship Mv Broughty a Dundee Perth and London, 250 ton Dutch built puddle jumper, doing five day round trips from Dundee, to London with a Cook Steward and me the Cabin boy, with 11 other crew

    Jim, I left in early November 1956, my discharge book is dated 9th November 1956, and like you I was never referred to as a peanut.

    Off subject a little bit here (sorry) but had to add that when on the Gold Mines learning the Job,we were also in a School of Mines it was called and all of us were then known as Jam Tarries ! LOL (Jam Tarts) what a name to be labelled with for a Year!

    Lmao, we have two football teams here in Edinburgh, the Hibernian known as the Hibee’s and the other one is Heart of Midlothian, known as Hearts or the Jam tarts or Jambos , I’m a Hibee
