Default How do i trace a Masters Certificate?

Hi I am searching for a masters certificate and I don't know where to start.
I am enquiring about a Captain of the Sorceress ship which left Malta to arrive at Rotterdam and sank in the Bay of Biscay in 1919
. There seems to be a lot of mystery surrounding this event and if I could find the Captains certificate it would help. The Captain was also a harbour pilot.
I am doing this search for a friend who is the grandson of the Captain Harold Slade Gidley
    Any suggestions?
