In the 1950s, in the final heyday of the Atlantic linertrade, the United States along with the Queen Mary & QueenElizabeth were the most popular liners. A blazing success, theworld's fastest liner and of course the pride of Yankee fleet, the UnitedStates was averaging 98% of capacity.
