Queen Elizabeth docked in Snow Storm.jpg
Writing paper! Last week, on evening television in Southampton, a modified, British version of Antiques Roadshow was shown. And what should pop-up but one the 5,000 Parker pens made from the extracted metals from the original Queen Elizabeth. The ship (but as the Seawise University) burnt out, as you will well remember, in Hong Kong harbor back in January 1972, capsized and later was scrapped. C Y Tung, her Chinese owner, thought the pens would be a nice remembrance of the great ship. In the auction, at the show's end, the pen fetched $350.
Photo shows the Queen Elizabeth docked in wintry Halifax. She had been rerouted to the Nova Scotia port because of a dock strike at New York. The year is 1955.
