From far away oman

We were a day away from Oman (in April), coming from Dubai and heading for Egypt & the Suez Canal. We were aboard the Queen Elizabeth, a Cunard liner named by Her Majesty back in Oct 2010 and so, as she has said, "one of my ships". "My ships" also include the QE2 (in Dubai) and the current Queen Mary 2, Oriana & Britannia.


Well, onboard our trip, some of the staff & crew gathered on the foredeck on an otherwise sizzling Mid Eastern morning for a special photo: Birthday wishes to Her Majesty for her 90th. A specially framed copy, signed & including a message was then handed over the next day to the British ambassador in Oman and then forwarded on to Buckingham Palace.


The Queen, it was relayed back, was very pleased. She also showed it to Prince Philip over morning Cornflakes and said, "A lovely photo, but isn't that Bill fourth from the left in the eighth row?"

I did the world cruise to Sydney on Queen Elizabeth, I didn't like it, she had just flagged out and they got rid of the very excellent Filipino Stewards and replaced them with Eastern Europeans, who were pig ignorant, unhelpful, unhygienic and arrogant.
I haven't sailed with Cunard since.
