Christchurch NZ
You would have to sympathise with those people who have suffered in the last couple years with earthquakes floods and gale force winds some of these people have lost everything twice but I suppose that's life

Re: Christchurch NZ
I was there Boxing day when one hit, not long before the big one. Looking at photos now it reminds me of what parts of Europe looked like during the war. Some on the last cruise took the bus from Akaroa to Christchurch for a look see, most were horrified at the state of the city, mainly those who had been there years ago. The high point though was the container mall which apparently is going very well.

Re: Christchurch NZ
I too was shocked when I saw the photos of Christchurch.
Been there many times. I climbed to the top of the steeple of the Cathedral and got the Certificate. and was shocked when I saw it had all collapsed. I remember the performances of the `WIZARD` on his step ladder outside he Cathedral. I wonder how he is doing.
Hope they recover soon.
How much aid did Britain give?? anyone know?
We have given a few million to Ukraine, and to the Al Quada in Syria. and that was self inflicted and nothing to do with us.

Re: Christchurch NZ
I have very fond memories of Christchurch, a very *English* feel to it, i had stayed in the Hotel On the Square many times, and used the cafe that was part of the cathedral. Very sad to see the photos of it now. the last time we were there myself and the* chancellor* took a ride on the river by punt, with the skipper of the punt, complete with boater hat giving us the history of the river, also had evening dinner on the tram as it went round the city, all fond memories, KT

Re: Christchurch NZ
It has been said that Christchurch is the most English city in the world outside of England. Apparently based on the city of oxford.

Re: Christchurch NZ
Cameron, without consulting the taxpayer gave £680,000,000 to Syria. I don't know if he gave any to Christchurch, but he promised £10,000,000 to the farmers and £31, 000,000 for flood relief. I think they are still waiting. He still thinks he will be re-elected when he might?? have a referendum on Europe. I see the welsh are also getting worried about UKIP.
