Armed Merchant Cruisers
This was one thing the German Navy had it over on the British Royal Navy ( this is only my opinion )was arming the ex Liners into armed cruisers i think reason for that was their speed but the upper structure was a bad thing .The Germans picked their armed merchant cruisers( Raiders ) they picked small cargo ships not all that fast but very adapt more so than the British AMC

Re: Armed Merchant Cruisers
You are right there Lou, German Raiders had as much Firepower as a Cruiser, low profile and a reasonable speed, but most of ALL HIGHLY TRAINED CREWS, and very accurate Gunnery, plus the equipment they carried, seaplanes, torpedoe boats, and tactics. nothing was left to chance.
