Louis, the thing that jarred with me whilst in the UK was the amount of wind machines everywhere, even out at sea off the coast near Redcar. I suppose this was all around the uk coast. What stuck in my mind was that most of them were not in use, i.e. they were not turning. I suppose those living in UK do not notice so much as see them everyday, but to most visitors they are an eyesore. Although we have them out here in places, they do not seem to intrude as much as the UK ones. One gets the impression that there are far too many of them especially as very few appear to be in use. Sorry to intrude on Lou's thread, but we do notice them John, and you wouldn't believe the amount of objections ignored by authorities on the useless things, the propellers have to be locked in high winds, they have to be locked in heavy snow in case they incur too much vibration, they wipe thousands of pounds from your homes value. One poor sod has had £100,000 knocked off his value because one of these objects is going to be placed 500 yards from his home. The land based ones are very noisy, you bet we notice them. Sorry Lou

Just going back to that story of mine that Keith put on his post 34 about me they put my age as 92 well not there yet but i hope to be put it down to the G&T its my only vice now

Getting back to the Liverpool celebrations we went back to the Port of Liverpool building a met up with Jim Brady and ( i am a bit confused about the days )but i think that as Capt Kong and ANN also Ivan and Wendy was going back home the next day they said goodbyes to Jim .I thought it might be a good idea for us to have dinner together that night at the Inn so i book a table for Capt Kong ,Ann ,Ivan,Wendy and myself and it proved to be a very entertaining evening after saying our goodbyes i went to bed .Next morning Ivan and Wendy came to my room to thank me for a picture book of Dunedin i gave them .It was to turn out a very wet day and it was the day that all the Warships wasto leave the Mersey so i thought i would go down to the river and see them go well the rain came and i was not prepared for it standing by the rail i was just in two minds to goto the pub when a old lady came up to me and she said would i like a umbrella i said thanks that would be nice .She had her own umbrella but she reached into a big bag she hadand gave me a umbrella but it was a pink one it must have been one of her families i did not have the heart to say no so i used it till i got back to to Inn .That day i was on my own so just before i was going down to have dinner i thought i would have a drink in the bar so in i went ask the barman for a G&T when i saw how much gin he put into the glass i thought thats not much so i told him to make it a double even then its not like the ones i have at home but when i paid for it i thought i will be not having anymore G*T in this bar 7pounds 50p

Hi Lou Must say thus far I have enjoyed your little stories of your Holiday. Always nice to read someone elses experiences,i am sure that the memories of this trip will last forever in your Heart!
