War book donated to teach youngsters:
COPIES of a book documenting British Merchant Navy losses during the Second World War have been donated to Penarth library in a bid to raise youngsters' awareness of the atrocities.
Upon Their Lawful Occasions was presented to library staff on Friday by members of The Masonic Province of South Wales (Eastern Division).
The book's author, the late Vernon Upton, was a senior Freemason in the South Wales Masons.
Manager of Penarth Masonic Hall, Paul Gallone, said: "The work the Merchant Navy carried out kept this country going. It must be remembered and supported by the young, and now is the time to promote it.
"This book contains descriptions that will never be seen on TV."
