hi don. i went round the powder mills before they started demolishing it and found some facinating things. apart from the canals they had fairly small buildings with a roof designed so that an explosion would go upwards.for minimum damage. i used to go out with a girl from government row which ran parellel to the river lee and when i was smaller (during the war) started a steam crane (used in the gravel pits) when the driver left it while having his lunch in the greyhound pub, and it ended up in the pits

Now you have started something Stuart as I will now have to go and see if you can still get it as I used to love them myself. Not much chop in hot weather unless stored in a cool spot I must admit.

I worked with a guy from Liverpool onece who got all nostalgic every now and again , and made himself Connie-Onnie sandwiches , The whole thing sprinkled with sugar used to remind me that Fish Paste and that special Sandwich Spread industrial version doled out on all Clan line ships as supper , were not all bad

    Default when i was young

When I was young there was this park with 3 lots of swings .a slide,a roundabout and a wedding cake, and I bet it was there for many years before I was born.It was a toddlers area and only people with children could go in there, the gate to get out could not be opened by kids so you could relax without the kids doing a runner.Anyway today I just walked through there on my way out, there is not one thing left for the children to play on,swings .slide and roundabout all gone.now just a grassed area where more dog walkers will be able to let their dogs s88t all over it.I can only think that this is the council going bananas on Elf &Safety, the baby's coming up will never know what the "Swing Park" was like.To give you an idea one of my kids walked behind a swing and was givena right smack, that was'nt the fault of the council but my wife for not keeping an eye on him.

When mum was not looking would make a cone out of a piece of paper and pour in cocoa and sugar. Run outside and then just dip the finger in the cone and lick it.
That was our sweets when game to raid the kitchen.
