Am saddened that British Shipping and British Shipbuilding have declined to be almost insignificant.
The Aussies have taken the fast ferries and the rest have gone to the Scandinavians and the Asians.
The Americans are on life support from a protectionist government.

Hi Robert,
Thats pretty incredible after all these years. Your first ship British Might was my second ship to sea in mid 1948, did two trips one as galley boy Grangemouth- Abadan. Broke down Bay of Biscay homeward and after wallowing around a couple of days were towed into Falmouth by another BTC tanker. Went home on leave and then Dock St pool sent me back to Falmouth saying I was tanker man now. Ship they sent me to was Willowfield and on reaching her saw long woodbine funnel was on fire.... Didnt even go aboard but saw British Might in dry dock and went aboard for cup of tea. Chf stwd offered me promotion to A/Stwd if I signed on again, big incentive from £7 per month to nearly £20. Turned out to be eight month trip though,Persian Gulf,Red Sea ports and New Zealand where we sailed on Christmas Eve. God thats 62 years ago....... Must be getting old !
Happy Christmas to you and a Healthy Happy New Year
