New to the site
Hiya!
I'm new to the site. Still having a sniff around, and trying to see how things work. I'm an ex Vindi Boy, my first ship was the Queen Mary in 1964, followed by various passenger ships out of Southampton for about three years, then in 1967 I joined BP (Much more my cup of tea) and stayed with them for ten very happy years. Worked ashore for twenty years, then started working on the water again in 1998 for a local ferry company. Been off sick for six months with COPD and unsure whether I'll ever work again.
I hope I'll be able to put some input into the site, which is, I hope a quiet, non controversial one. I'm all for the quiet life.
Cheers!
Dick

Me Too!
"I hope I'll be able to put some input into the site, which is, I hope a quiet, non controversial one. I'm all for the quiet life"
Welcome to this great site Dick! A man after my own heart!
I too wanted to join a quiet,non-controversial site...............(Sigh).
I also became a member of 'Squeeze Your Ship into a Bottle’ site' ,and another good one for watching is the 'St.Celestines Soroptomists Synchronised Swimming Ensemble' Site(for purely relaxation purposes, you understand).
Listen….The only way to get peace and quiet aboard here is.….not make any controversial statements, agree with everything anyone says, support Scotland and it's attempt to wipe England off the U.K.map,pay total homage to the Engineering profession, worship any 2nd Cook/Bakers.....and don't(under any circumstances) give any tips or gratuities-unless of course it's to our Web Master for providing this site. Above all, don't lose your sense of humour, particularly when many others around you are losing theirs...... You'll be fine.
And......If it all gets too much, just switch off like I do!
Be like me-non-controversial,anything for a quiet life!
Now where's that Off switch?....
Enjoy the trip!

Thanks for the tips Gulliver, I have HUGE respek for 2nd Cooks & Bakers, especially scottish ones.
As for England, I come from the IOW so am detatched from that anyway.
I have great respect for all seafarers, most of who probably worked much harder and in much worse conditions than I did. Many still do of course.

Now Gulliver, when was there any contiversal items on this site? We are all here for a good time not a long time, make of it what you will. Speak your mind and if you must keep you tounge in your mouth, there must be other places for it, then just make sure you do not bite it. But worse than that cold shoulder and tounge pie for dinner.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.
