Arthur 'Jack' Sweeney
Hi - my name is Phil Sweeney. I am lookng for anyone that might be ableto tell me anything about my dad, Arthur Sweeney always called Jack by his family. He left Royal Hospital School in 1937/8, and after failing is Navy medical joined Union Castle as a steward on the Southampton to Cape Town route. During the war he was in the PQ convoys I think. He emigrated to New Zealand after the war, but didn't get on there so worked his passage back to England in 1955. He died in 1964.
I would be grateful if anyone could tell me anything about his time at sea.
Thanks
Phil

Hi Keith
Full Name was Arthur Sweeney. He was born in Portsmouth in 1923. I have no discharge number for him I am afraid.
I am probably being a bit optimistic, it wasa long time ago.

Re: Arthur 'Jack' Sweeney
Hi Keith
Yes his mother was Alice Doody. I think he was born in November/December 1923. I am not sure, I was very young when he died, and my mother has now recently died so I can't ask her.
Thanks
Phil

Re: Arthur 'Jack' Sweeney
I had only found one Arthur for that year, had not come across anything MN. Makes sense that he would be recorded as A.
Hopefully, you have worked your magic again Hugh.
Regards Keith.
